Launched in mid-2008, Los Angeles-based denim company Current/Elliott was conceived out of a love for vintage denim and inspired by pure Americana. The brainchild of the indomitable styling pair, Emily Current and Meritt Elliott - who are also known as MAUDE - Current/Elliott's wide-ranging line famously introduced the "boyfriend jean" to the global fashion scene and became instant favourites for celebrities such as Katie Holmes and Mary-Kate Olsen. The duo's whimsical styling exploits began after they met as classmates at UCLA, where they bonded over 684 elephant bell-bottom jeans.
From there, Current/Elliott established its expertise in reviving various fits and styles of jeans past as well as experimenting in creating new styles that honoured the history and cult of denim. Today, Current/Elliott jeans - in a variety of forms that range from cargo to slouchy, moto, high-waisted and shorts - are a fashion editor's favourite, and frequently grace the pages of magazines such as Teen Vogue and Nylon. |
