EDWIN (an anagram for Denim) was established in Japan in 1947. The Creator, Mr. Tsunemi had a huge passion for denim, which inspired him to import denim directly from the United States as denim was not manufactured in Japan at that time. Mr. Tsumeni's idea was to create his own denim, with better fits, washes and quality. In 1961, Mr. Tsunemi crafted the first pair of Edwin denim jeans. By 1963 Edwin had produced the world's heaviest ring-spun denim jean (16oz) ,featuring the famous three-color rainbow selvedge, which is still being used today.
Besides this, EDWIN has invented several different jeans washes including 'old wash' designed to replicate denim which have been worn from its rigid, unwashed state traditionally designed for work-wear due to its durability and 'stone washing' which revolutionized the entire denim industry and is used in almost every denim company today. Edwin is an authentic denim brand priding itself on innovation and craftsmanship, utilizing exclusive fabrics and fabrication, unique technology, hand wash processes, and continual progression in design and fit. |
