The SUNPOCKET story starts in France in the late 1970's / early 1980's. The SUNPOCKET brand is and has always been strongly associated with the joyful and colorful era of the 1980's. This year the original Sunpocket shades are being re-launched. The shades with their "all weather" lenses (darker lower parts to protect from reflections of snow / water, and upper to protect from the sun) were originally made for summer / winter sports and leisure.
SUNPOCKET became a big hit in street as well as in sports fashion. The colorful foldable shades with their mirror-shaded glass introduced a combination of funkiness, functionality, and rock'n roll into the 80's eyewear fashion scene. The plan to re-launch the sleeping brand occurred in 2009 when a pair of SUNPOCKET originals was found in a cottage in Trysil, a Norwegian ski resort. The SUNPOCKET soul has been resting for 30 years. Now, it's time to bring back the joy and rock 'n' roll of the 80's. |
